Bridgeport celebrates Math Meet achievements and acknowledges school improvements

The Bridgeport Board of Education held an in-person regular meeting on June 9, 2025, focusing on key updates and recognitions as the school year comes to a close. The meeting began with a reminder for delegates to arrive early for an upcoming vote, emphasizing the importance of representation for Bridgeport.

Superintendent Dr. Avery delivered a brief report, expressing gratitude to staff, students, families, and the community for their hard work throughout the school year. He highlighted the district's momentum and excitement as they approach the end of the academic year.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to celebrating the achievements of students in the district-wide Math Meet held at Sacred Heart. Dr. Avery recognized the top-performing schools: Black Rock School took first place, followed by Multicultural Magnet School in second, and Geraldine Johnson School in third. Notably, Park City Magnet School was acknowledged for its remarkable improvement, moving from eighteenth to fifth place.

Individual student achievements were also celebrated, with Christopher R. from Black Rock School recognized as the top seventh-grade performer and David C. from Multicultural Magnet School honored for his outstanding eighth-grade performance, achieving this distinction for the second consecutive year.

The meeting concluded with a reminder of an upcoming celebration for teachers and administrators scheduled for June, reinforcing the district's commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.
