The Campbell County Schools Board Meeting on February 20, 2024, celebrated remarkable achievements by students from Campbell County Middle School and Klein Elementary, highlighting the district's commitment to academic excellence and the arts.
The meeting opened with a proud recognition of the sixth-grade academic team from Campbell County Middle School, who triumphed at a recent showcase competition. The team, coached by Megan Rider, secured first place overall and achieved an undefeated record in quick recall. Individual students excelled in various subjects, with top placements in math, science, social studies, language arts, and arts and humanities. Notably, three students ranked in the top ten statewide in math, showcasing the team's strong academic performance.
Following this, the seventh and eighth-grade academic team also received accolades for their outstanding performance in district competitions, finishing 40.5 points ahead of the second-place team. Their success included a tie for first place in future problem solving, and several members are set to compete at the state level.
The meeting also highlighted individual achievements in the arts. Grant Cooper from Klein Elementary was recognized for being selected for the All State Honor Choir, a prestigious group of young singers from across Kentucky. Additionally, Colson Barone, a third grader, won the Kentucky Association of Counties' "I Love My County" art contest, with his artwork celebrating local fair traditions.
As the meeting progressed, the board opened the floor for audience comments, indicating a commitment to community engagement and transparency.
