School Board approves $4M electrical bid for East Heights renovation project

The Henderson County Schools Board made a significant move during their recent meeting by approving a crucial electrical bid for the East Heights Elementary renovation project. The bid, submitted by Industrial Electrical Supply, totaled $4,000,002.45, contributing to an overall construction cost of $21,000,000.53 for the project.

Jeanne from RBS, stepping in for John Hagan Caudell due to illness, presented the details of the bid. She confirmed that the electrical bid was the last piece needed for the project, which had been anticipated since the previous board meeting. Superintendent Dr. Lawson acknowledged the high cost but noted it fell within expected ranges, expressing gratitude to those involved in securing the bid.

The board unanimously approved the electrical bid, with members voicing their support through a chorus of "ayes." Following this, they also moved to approve a revised BG 1, which now totals $25,413,238, reflecting the updated costs associated with the renovation.

This approval marks a significant step forward in the East Heights project, ensuring that the necessary electrical work can proceed as planned. The board's swift action highlights their commitment to enhancing educational facilities in Henderson County.
