Texas House honors San Angelo Mayor Brenda Gunter for distinguished service

Brenda Gunter's impactful tenure as mayor of San Angelo is coming to a close, marking a significant chapter in the city's history. As the first woman elected to lead San Angelo in February 2017, Gunter has been a driving force behind economic development and the revitalization of the historic downtown area, transforming it into a vibrant hub for recreation, business, and residential investment.

During her time in office, Gunter has represented San Angelo on the Ports to Plains Alliance Board and chaired the Texas Department of Transportation I-27 advisory committee. Her leadership has been pivotal in numerous infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the Hickory Aquifer, improvements to Lake Nazworthy's sewer system, and enhancements to the Concho River water projects. Transportation advancements have also flourished under her guidance, with significant upgrades at the San Angelo Regional Airport.

Gunter's commitment to civic engagement is evident through her involvement with organizations such as Angelo State University's Norris Vincent College of Business Advisory Council and the San Angelo Area Foundation.
