San Felipe del Rio CISD approves agreements for educational programs with UT Austin

San Felipe-Del Rio CISD is set to enhance educational support for students with the approval of two significant agreements during the recent board meeting held on June 30, 2025. The first agreement focuses on the Texas ACE Center program, which aims to enroll 90 students, providing them with academic interventions and social support. The district will facilitate transportation, coordinate student progress reviews, and offer evening meals to participants.

Dr. Rios highlighted the program's success, noting that students in the fourth and fifth grades have shown growth on the STAR test since the program's inception. The board discussed the importance of targeting students in need, ensuring that those who are not performing at expected levels receive the necessary assistance.

In a related move, the board also approved the OnRamps interlocal agreement with the University of Texas at Austin. This dual enrollment program will offer courses such as Introduction to Geoscience and Discovery Precalculus, designed to prepare students for post-secondary success. The agreement includes a subsidized fee for course materials and technical support, running through August 31, 2026.
