El Segundo announces summer events including Concerts in the Park and family campout

El Segundo residents can look forward to an exciting summer filled with community events and activities, as announced in the latest city council meeting. The popular Concerts in the Park series will kick off at Library Park, featuring live performances on July 13, July 27, August 10, and August 24, starting at 4:30 PM. In celebration of Harry Potter's birthday, the El Segundo Public Library will host a themed event on July 29 from 3 to 5 PM, offering a movie screening and a chance to create potion slime. This event is free and does not require registration.

Families can enjoy "Go Fly a Kite Day" on August 3 at Recreation Park from 11 AM to 2 PM, where attendees can bring their own kites or grab one at the park. The day will also feature arts and crafts activities.

The annual family campout at Stevenson Field is set for August 16-17, providing an overnight experience complete with meals, games, and a movie under the stars. Entry begins at 4 PM.

Car enthusiasts can mark their calendars for the 27th Annual Main Street Car Show on August 16 from 10 AM to 3 PM, showcasing classic cars, hot rods, and motorcycles. Those interested in displaying their vehicles or sponsoring the event can find more information on the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce website.

Art lovers will not want to miss the El Segundo Art Walk on August 23 from 3 to 9 PM, transforming downtown into a vibrant art scene with over 400 artists, food trucks, and live music.

In other news, the El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatic Center will be temporarily closed through August 31 for essential maintenance, including the replacement of the pool heater. The city acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause and appreciates residents' patience during the upgrades.

Residents are also encouraged to utilize the El Segundo Connect app, a citizen reporting platform that allows them to easily report non-emergency issues like potholes or graffiti directly from their phones. The app is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
