Grosse Ile Township approves master plan resolution after two-year process

The Grosse Ile Township Planning Commission made significant strides in urban development during its recent meeting, approving a crucial resolution to adopt the updated master plan. This decision, which took over two years to finalize, marks a pivotal moment for the township as it sets the framework for future growth and development.

Commission members engaged in a straightforward discussion before a motion was made to adopt the resolution presented by township staff. "I'll make a motion to approve the resolution of adoption of the master plan update and recommend adoption to the Grosse Ile Township Board of Trustees," stated one member, emphasizing the importance of the plan. The motion received unanimous support, with members expressing their satisfaction at reaching this milestone.

The approved master plan is expected to guide the township's development strategies and enhance community planning efforts. Following the vote, members acknowledged the lengthy process, with one jokingly noting, "It only took 2 and a half years."

In addition to the master plan approval, the meeting also included a public hearing on proposed changes to the C1 Convenience Commercial District Ordinance. This district, located at the northeast corner of Grow Road and Meridian, currently hosts only one business, the Airport Inn. The proposed changes aim to address the unique characteristics of this district and potentially open the door for new commercial opportunities.
