Principal McElroy praises class of 2025 at graduation ceremony

The Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education celebrated significant achievements and community support during its Organizational and Regular Meeting on July 1, 2025. The meeting opened with heartfelt congratulations to the graduating class of 2025, acknowledging their hard work and wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Board members expressed gratitude to high school principal Jason McElroy and his administrative team for their exceptional efforts in organizing a successful graduation ceremony. Special thanks were also extended to Joe Tripoto, the director of safety and security, and Andre Rudiak, the director of facilities, for their contributions to the event's success.

In a show of community spirit, the board recognized several generous donations. Notably, Sydney Skaggs contributed $100 to the Kim Schueller Scholarship Fund in memory of Harley Schueller. Additionally, a substantial donation of $20,000 from the estate of Harley Schueller was made to the same scholarship fund, highlighting the ongoing commitment to supporting students' educational opportunities.

The meeting also featured six STEM grant donations from Orange and Rockland Utility Company, further emphasizing the community's investment in educational initiatives. Lastly, Joshua Levisore donated a snare drum to the high school music department, enhancing the resources available for student musicians.

These contributions reflect a strong partnership between the school district and the community, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in fostering educational success.
