City council approves 28 shifts for We Fest traffic control and management

Becker County will enhance traffic management for the upcoming We Fest by approving the hiring of personnel for traffic control duties. During the Becker County Board of Commissioners meeting on July 1, 2025, officials approved the allocation of resources for 28 shifts, which will cover 12 daytime and 16 evening positions.

The decision aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the popular music festival, which draws large crowds. Originally, the committee discussed staffing for 26 shifts, but the board opted for 28 to allow for better rotation and coverage, especially considering the potential heat and the need for breaks among staff.

The approved plan will effectively manage 96 posts, though it will be handled by 28 individuals, ensuring adequate support throughout the event. The costs associated with this staffing will be covered by We Fest fees, making it a financially responsible decision for the county.
