Tarrant County honors Amanda Arizola for transformative healthcare leadership

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court meeting on July 2, 2025, highlighted significant community initiatives and recognized outstanding service within the county. A key focus was the work of Safe Families for Children, a local organization dedicated to supporting families in crisis. The chapter director emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that volunteers have provided essential resources like groceries and diapers to families in need, especially during the pandemic. The organization has served over 1,000 families and trained more than 100 volunteers, showcasing a commitment to compassionate care and community support.

In addition to community service, the court honored Amanda Jane Arizola for her groundbreaking contributions to the Tarrant County Hospital District Board of Managers. As the first Latina to serve in this role, Arizola has been instrumental in advocating for improved medical access and culturally competent care for underserved populations. Her leadership has left a lasting impact on public health in the county, particularly for low-income families.

The meeting also included a proclamation recognizing the Grapevine Police Department and Texas game warden Tristan Pokorny for their exemplary service following the tragic death of Ava Moore, a young woman who lost her life in a kayaking accident. The court expressed gratitude for the dedication of law enforcement in ensuring justice and safety within the community.

Lastly, the Grapevine High School baseball team was celebrated for winning back-to-back state championships, a testament to the hard work and excellence of the student-athletes and their coaches.
