Santa Fe hosts summer walk series and July 4th celebrations with community events

The City Council of Santa Fe held a vibrant meeting on July 2, 2025, highlighting a series of community events aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents. Among the key discussions was the ongoing Canyon Road Summer Walk Series, which celebrates the artistic and cultural heritage of Santa Fe. This initiative, taking place on the first Wednesday of each month throughout the summer, features music, crafts, and community events, all free of charge.

Looking ahead, the council announced the annual Fourth of July celebration at Via Linda Park, running from 4 PM to 10 PM, with free admission and parking. This festive event promises a fun-filled day for families, including a pancake breakfast on the plaza, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Santa Fe, which will support community service grants.

In a significant move to support local businesses, the Office of Economic Development introduced Deborah Torres as the first tribal business development liaison. This new role aims to uplift Native-owned businesses and artists in the area. Torres will kick off her initiative, "Native Threads," with a gathering on July 8 at the Santa Fe Business Incubator, providing a platform for networking among entrepreneurs.

The meeting also touched on upcoming events, including Lowrider Day on July 12, which celebrates local culture and is co-sponsored by the city. Additionally, the community services department announced various youth programs, including a back-to-school block party and a summer reading party, aimed at engaging young residents.
