Salt Lake City Council considers mixed use zoning consolidation proposal

He voiced concerns that introducing residential multifamily units would negatively impact his business by increasing traffic, crime, and congestion, ultimately making it difficult for customers to utilize the warehouse effectively.

Smith emphasized the challenges he has faced in finding suitable alternative locations for his business within Salt Lake City, stating that there are no viable options available. His testimony highlighted the potential conflicts between residential and commercial uses in the proposed mixed-use environment.

The meeting continued with additional public comments, but the focus remained on the implications of the zoning changes and the balance between residential development and business needs in the area. The council is expected to deliberate further on the feedback received during this public hearing as they consider the future of zoning in Salt Lake City.
