Nantucket Historical Association showcases textiles and clothing in nature exhibit tours

The Council on Aging's recent meeting highlighted exciting summer programs aimed at enriching the lives of Nantucket's senior residents. This July and August, the council has organized private tours for seniors to explore the nature exhibit at the Nantucket Historical Association (NHA). These tours are designed to provide engaging experiences and foster community connections among older residents.

Marsh and Island Home have already booked two tours, while Sherburne Commons recently participated in a walkthrough led by Michael Harrison, organized by Nina Hellman. This initiative allowed a small group of eight seniors to delve into the exhibit, which showcases textiles and clothing from Nantucket's rich history—pieces that have never been displayed before.

The meeting also touched on future plans, with discussions about expanding the program further into the state by spring 2026. This expansion aims to provide even more opportunities for seniors to engage with cultural and historical offerings.
