Chesterfield resident proposes improvements for convenience center traffic and safety

The Chesterfield County Council meeting on July 2, 2025, focused on improving the Chesterfield convenience center, with several suggestions aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety.

During the meeting, a council member highlighted the congestion issues at the center, particularly at the entrance and exit points. To alleviate this, they proposed creating separate entry and exit routes from Goodale Road. This change would help reduce bottlenecks and improve overall traffic management.

Another suggestion involved relocating the entrance gate and front fence closer to the road. This adjustment would allow for the placement of trash compactors just inside the gate, enabling quicker drop-offs for vehicles and minimizing interference with larger trucks and equipment in the back area.

Concerns were also raised regarding the tire trailer, which was reported to be poorly positioned and difficult for residents to access. The council member noted that tires were often left on the ground instead of being placed in the trailer, which is elevated and challenging to use. They recommended moving the trailer and constructing a platform to facilitate easier access for residents disposing of tires.

These proposals aim to enhance the convenience center's functionality and safety, ensuring a better experience for residents. The council will consider these suggestions as they work towards improving local waste management services.
