San Francisco County has taken a significant step towards enhancing its supportive housing services by approving a resolution to amend a grant agreement with Episcopal Community Services (ECS). This amendment extends the grant term by 16 months, now set to conclude on June 30, 2025, and increases the total funding by approximately $20.8 million, bringing the total agreement amount to around $47.1 million.

The funding will support property management and supportive services at five permanent supportive housing sites across the county. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for tenants, many of whom have faced long-term homelessness and disabling conditions. The additional funds will facilitate higher staffing levels to meet new case management ratios, provide one-time capital improvements, and address rising operational costs due to inflation.

The financial breakdown indicates that approximately $11.7 million will be allocated annually for the operation of these buildings, with tenant income contributing to part of the funding alongside $10.7 million designated for operational expenses. Originally procured by the Human Services Agency in 2014, this agreement reflects the county's ongoing commitment to addressing homelessness and providing essential support services.

The resolution is set to be referred to the Board of Supervisors on October 17, marking a crucial step in the county's efforts to enhance its supportive housing framework and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.
