Port of San Francisco partners on zero waste initiative with Fisherman's Wharf Board

San Francisco's Port Department is making strides towards sustainability and community engagement, as highlighted in a recent government meeting. Jay Edwards, the senior property manager of the Port of San Francisco, emphasized the strong partnership with the Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District (CBD) during his address. This collaboration has been pivotal in enhancing community safety and beautification efforts at the Wharf, particularly through projects like the Taylor Street reconstruction, which widened pedestrian areas.

Edwards noted the significant progress towards establishing Fisherman's Wharf as a "zero waste" area, a pioneering initiative in San Francisco. This ambitious project aims to minimize waste and promote environmental sustainability, with the support of local businesses and community members.

In addition to the Fisherman's Wharf updates, the meeting also addressed the Noe Valley Community Benefit District's annual reports. Lisa Pagan from the Office of Economic and Workforce Development presented a resolution to approve the district's reports for multiple fiscal years, ensuring compliance with city regulations and management plans. The Noe Valley Association, which oversees the district, has been active since 2005, collecting special assessments from property owners to fund community services.
