The San Francisco Health Service System (SFHSS) is gearing up for its open enrollment period for the 2024 plan year, which will run from October 2 to October 27, 2023. This announcement was made during a recent government meeting, where officials outlined the preparations and updates for the upcoming enrollment.
Chief Operating Officer Ray Guillen emphasized the importance of thorough planning, noting that the process begins months in advance. The team has been working diligently to ensure that members are well-informed about their options and any changes to their health plans. This year, the open enrollment communication plan will include webinars and a calendar of health fairs and flu clinics to assist members in navigating their choices.
Among the key updates for 2024, SFHSS will introduce a new pregnancy and postpartum care program for Blue Shield members, as well as the RX 90 program, which allows members to obtain a 90-day supply of maintenance medications at select pharmacies. Additionally, the Delta Dental Smile Away program will expand, offering more cleaning options for members with specific medical conditions.
Despite facing significant premium cost increases, officials reported that there will be minimal changes to the health plans themselves. The focus remains on enhancing member services and ensuring that all prospective respondents in the upcoming Requests for Proposals (RFPs) have access to comprehensive data about member needs.
The meeting also included a public comment session, although no members of the public chose to speak at this time. The board expressed gratitude for the hard work of the SFHSS team as they prepare for the upcoming enrollment period, highlighting the importance of these services to the community.
As the city moves forward, the SFHSS aims to provide clear and accessible information to its members, ensuring that they can make informed decisions about their health care options in the coming year.
