The project has undergone revisions based on feedback from the Architectural Review Committee, which met on November 1, 2023. Key changes include relocating and screening electrical meters, moving condenser units to the roof, and removing certain exterior elements to enhance the building's appearance. A new six-foot tall, 75% transparent painted metal fence will flank the building, contributing to both security and aesthetics.

City staff emphasized that these modifications will not compromise the building's original qualities or the character of the surrounding district. The project is in compliance with the planning code and adheres to the Secretary of the Interior's standards for rehabilitation. Staff recommended approval, highlighting that the project meets all necessary provisions for major alterations in a landmark district.

During the meeting, project sponsor Tom Tunney expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of city planners and the Architectural Review Committee. He noted that the project is ready for approval, with only minor details pending, such as ensuring compliance with emergency egress requirements.

Commissioners raised questions regarding potential noise from the relocated condensers and the height of the new fencing. Planning staff assured that noise regulations would be followed and that the design would minimize visibility of the condensers from the street. Temporary barriers may be installed during construction to address any immediate concerns regarding security and aesthetics.
