The Boys and Girls Clubs, a staple in the community since 1891, serve over 3,000 youth annually. Their grant will fund 32 field trips for 300 students from kindergarten to 12th grade, focusing on hands-on outdoor activities that promote environmental education and justice. This initiative aims to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness regarding environmental issues among young participants.

City of Dreams, which has been serving families in Bayview's low-income housing since 2004, will utilize its grant to conduct environmental education workshops and implement a youth-led zero waste community engagement project. This program is designed to empower youth by involving them directly in sustainability efforts within their neighborhoods.

The YMCA, recognized for its leadership in outdoor and environmental education, plans to expand its zero waste educational initiatives. The funding will enhance after-school programs, summer camps, and training opportunities, allowing youth to engage in meaningful environmental activities.

During the meeting, representatives from these organizations shared insights into their programs. Manuel Rodriguez from the YMCA highlighted the creation of educational curricula and field trips that foster a love for nature and environmental stewardship. Kareem Sykes from City of Dreams detailed their "Earn to Learn" gardening program, which teaches youth about sustainable practices from seed to harvest while also engaging families in composting efforts.
