Despite this extension, recent discussions revealed that compliance has been alarmingly low, with estimates suggesting that only about 10% of building owners have completed the necessary upgrades. This raises serious concerns about the safety of residents in these older buildings, many of which were grandfathered into the previous regulations and lacked adequate alarm systems.
