The San Francisco City Commission convened to address ongoing issues surrounding Trinity, a local venue with a conditional live performance permit. The meeting highlighted significant enforcement actions due to repeated violations of permit conditions, particularly concerning noise complaints and unauthorized entertainment.
Deputy Director Azevedo reported that Trinity had received conditional approval for their permit in August 2023, allowing indoor entertainment in designated areas. However, the venue faced challenges in complying with safety requirements, specifically the need to modify their doors to open outward. Despite beginning repairs, the permit has yet to be fully issued.
Since the conditional approval, the Commission has received 15 noise complaints, primarily from a neighbor living behind the venue. Azevedo noted that inspectors substantiated three of these complaints during visits, including one incident where a DJ was performing without the necessary permit. The ongoing use of an outdoor patio during events has further exacerbated noise issues, as it was not included in the original permit application.
The Commission discussed potential actions to recondition Trinity's permit, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to regulations. Azevedo suggested reminding the owners about the importance of keeping patio doors closed during performances and clarifying the type of entertainment being hosted. The owners, Nick and Johnny, participated via Zoom, citing staffing issues as the reason for their absence.
As the Commission deliberates on the next steps, the focus remains on ensuring compliance and minimizing disruptions for the surrounding community. The outcome of this meeting could significantly impact Trinity's operations and its relationship with local residents.
