San Francisco County has taken a significant step to enhance transportation access and generate revenue through a new licensing agreement with GSW Arena LLC, the operator of the Chase Center. During a recent government meeting, the Port Commission approved a resolution for a nonexclusive license allowing GSW to utilize designated curb spaces and metered parking areas on game and special event days for an initial term of 10 years, with options for two additional five-year extensions.

The agreement, which is set to commence on August 1, 2023, is projected to generate over $1.5 million in revenue during its initial term, potentially rising to approximately $3.5 million if both extension options are exercised. Each game or event is expected to yield an additional $1,008 from the reservation of 80 metered parking spaces, contributing to increased parking revenues for the port.

Jennifer Gee, Senior Property Manager with the Port of San Francisco, highlighted that this new license builds upon a previous agreement established in 2019, which aimed to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety around the Chase Center. The port anticipates that the agreement will not only enhance parking enforcement but also reduce the number of citations issued in the area.

The resolution received unanimous support from the Port Commission and is seen as a continuation of the partnership between the Warriors and the city, aimed at improving access to waterfront transportation services. Vanessa Gonzalez from the Golden State Warriors expressed strong support for the agreement, emphasizing the collaborative efforts made to enhance community access and safety.
