Maricopa County hosts resume workshop to enhance job seekers' skills

Led by workforce development trainer Sonia Ruiz, the workshop emphasized the importance of keeping resumes current. "Some people haven't revamped their resume for over 20 years," Ruiz noted, highlighting the need for attendees to learn modern resume trends and what employers are looking for today. In addition to resume writing, participants had the chance to practice their interviewing skills with experienced trainers. "We have some great trainers here that can get them some tips as they go into an interview," Ruiz explained, underscoring the comprehensive support offered to job seekers.

The impact of the workshop has been significant. Last year, Maricopa County's human services department assisted 369 individuals in improving their employability through this initiative. So far this year, 280 residents have already benefited from the program, which is available in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a wider audience.
