Commissioners receive bids for Bridge 332 rehabilitation project in critical condition

The Elkhart County Commissioners Meeting on July 7, 2025, focused on critical infrastructure issues, particularly the rehabilitation of Bridge 332, which has been closed due to a critical failure identified in a recent inspection.

Kyle Wagner from the highway department presented two bids for the bridge rehabilitation project. The first bid was submitted by Milestone Contractors, totaling $1,009,617.39. The second bid came from Reeth Riley Construction Company, amounting to $1,397,764.38. After reviewing the bids, the commissioners voted unanimously to accept them for further evaluation.

In addition to the bridge project, the meeting included a request to post a notice to bidders for the 2025 crack seal program. This program, which was successfully initiated last year, aims to maintain and improve local road conditions.

The discussions highlighted the county's ongoing commitment to infrastructure safety and maintenance, with the next steps involving a thorough review of the submitted bids for the bridge project.
