Grover Beach announces summer concert series and upcoming community events

The Grover Beach City Council meeting on June 23, 2025, highlighted several community events and initiatives aimed at enhancing local engagement and recreation. Key discussions included the upcoming summer concert series, community safety events, and the ongoing Ramona Garden Park rehabilitation project.

The city announced a slightly abbreviated summer concert series due to venue changes caused by construction at Ramona Garden Park. The concerts will now take place at Sixteenth Street Park, featuring six performances starting on July 7 with the band Careless Whisper and concluding on August 17 with the Stevie Nicks Illusion. The city expressed gratitude to its sponsors, particularly Mechanics Bank, for their support of the event.

In addition to the concert series, the council discussed the Grover Beach Night Out, scheduled for July 20. This event, hosted by the Grover Beach Police Department, will feature a drone light show, music, food trucks, and activities for children, including a Pinewood Derby Race.

The Stone Soup Festival, organized by the Clark Center in cooperation with the city, is also set for August. Although it cannot be held at Ramona Garden Park, it will take place in the surrounding area, primarily on Ninth Street.

Looking ahead to September, the council outlined several events, including a movie night featuring the Minecraft movie, a Dune run on the beach, and a game night for families.

The meeting also addressed the Ramona Garden Park rehabilitation project, which aims to install a new inclusive playground, restrooms, an event lawn, seating, and a band shell. The city is encouraging community involvement through a donation drive, allowing residents to contribute by purchasing bricks or benches, or even naming the band shell for a significant donation.

As the meeting concluded, council members were invited to ask questions, and public comments were welcomed, indicating an ongoing commitment to community engagement and transparency in local governance.
