Minot prepares for August 5 voting and celebrates employee appreciation week

The Minot City Council meeting on July 7, 2025, began with a reminder from City representative Jen about the upcoming mayoral election on August 5. She emphasized the importance of voting and noted that absentee ballots have been available since June 26. Voters can complete the absentee voting process in one visit to the Ward County Administration Building, which will remain open during business hours until the election date.

Jen also acknowledged the various organizations that have hosted forums for the mayoral candidates, including MACEDC and the North Dakota Sons of Liberty Minot chapter. She encouraged residents to stay informed by watching candidate interviews available on mydakotan.com.

Following the election update, Jen announced that the week of July 7 marks the start of Employee Appreciation Week for the City of Minot. A company picnic is scheduled for Wednesday at Public Works, where service awards will be presented to employees celebrating milestones, including a special recognition for Kevin, who has served the community for 30 years. Food trucks will also be available at city facilities during the week.

Additionally, Jen informed attendees that the new Minot Police Department Chief, Michael Fry, will be officially welcomed on July 14 at 4:30 PM. She noted that there will be no planning commission meeting in July, with the next meeting scheduled for August 12.

Lastly, Jen highlighted the upcoming North Dakota State Fair, which begins on July 18, and mentioned that road closures will be in effect for the State Parade on July 19.
