Commissioners approve Juneteenth Jubilee block party at State Street

The Springfield License Commission meeting on July 8, 2025, highlighted the approval of a one-day alcohol permit for the upcoming Juneteenth Jubilee, set to take place on June 13, 2025. The event, organized by IGN Company, will feature an adult block party from 5 PM to 9 PM at State Street, specifically along Venezuelan Way and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

India Anderson, the event coordinator, detailed plans for the celebration, which includes a flag-raising ceremony and various community activities throughout the weekend. The block party will be restricted to attendees aged 21 and over, with wristbands required for entry. Anderson assured commissioners that there would be police presence and checkpoints to ensure safety and compliance.

Commissioners raised questions about the event's logistics, including the number of police officers on duty and the certification of bartenders serving alcohol. Anderson confirmed that the bartenders are licensed and TIP certified, and she indicated that two police officers would likely be present, similar to last year’s event.
