Elyria Foundry honored with proclamation for 120 years of industrial excellence

The Regular City Council Meeting held on July 7, 2025, in Elyria, Ohio, commenced with a significant acknowledgment of Elyria Foundry, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. Mayor Kevin Brubaker welcomed representatives from the foundry, including Senior Human Resource Manager Summer Taylor, Director of Environmental Health and Safety Nate Glodowski, and President Brian Wright.

The mayor read a proclamation honoring Elyria Foundry for its longstanding contributions to the community and industry. The proclamation highlighted the foundry's origins dating back to 1905, its role in producing specialized castings, and its commitment to workforce development through partnerships with local educational institutions. The foundry currently employs over 200 individuals and is recognized for its core values of pride, tradition, unity, communication, and mutual respect.

Brian Wright expressed gratitude for the city's support and emphasized the foundry's dedication to maintaining its operations in Elyria, despite challenges in the industry. He reaffirmed the company's commitment to the community and its future.

Following the proclamation, the council addressed the transfer of a property from the city to the Community Investment Corporation, which will subsequently be sold to Steve McQuillan. This transaction is part of ongoing efforts to foster community investment and development.

The meeting underscored the city's commitment to recognizing local businesses and facilitating economic growth, with Elyria Foundry's legacy serving as a focal point of community pride and industrial achievement.
