Sellersburg Redevelopment Commission approves $30K MOU for State Road 60 signal light

The Sellersburg Redevelopment Commission made significant strides in infrastructure development during its meeting on July 7, 2025, approving a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hutton Sellersburg, Indiana SD LLC. This agreement is pivotal for the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Haplief and State Road 60, which is expected to enhance safety and accessibility in the area.

The commission unanimously approved the claims register for the day before diving into the details of the MOU. This agreement outlines a cost-sharing arrangement where the commission will contribute $200,000 towards the signal's installation, with $150,000 sourced from Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds and $50,000 from an adjacent developer, Platform Real Estate.

The MOU also establishes that Hutton will prefund a utility maintenance account with $30,000 to cover the ongoing costs associated with the signal's operation and maintenance. This proactive measure aims to alleviate future financial burdens on the town while ensuring the signal remains functional and well-maintained.

Commission members emphasized the importance of this agreement, noting that it has taken several months of negotiations with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to finalize the terms. The MOU is seen as a critical step in moving forward with the signal installation, allowing Hutton to proceed with construction and keeping the Wawa development project on schedule.
