Flower Mound Town Council introduces tree rebate program to boost local tree planting

Luxton noted that the program is modeled after similar initiatives in Denton and Argyle, which have seen varying levels of participation and funding usage. The council discussed the importance of ensuring that the program is accessible and beneficial to residents, with some members suggesting adjustments to the rebate structure, such as a potential shift from a 100% match to a 50% match to better balance community resources.

Additionally, the council considered the criteria for eligible trees, which must come from an approved species list, and discussed the importance of proper planting locations to avoid utility lines and building foundations. The program aims to promote environmental stewardship while enhancing the town's green spaces.

The council plans to finalize details and launch the program, with further discussions on marketing and communication strategies to ensure residents are informed about the rebate availability and application process.
