City Council approves street closures for Ribs Rods Rock and Roll event

The Vermillion City Council has officially approved street closures for the highly anticipated Ribs Rods Rock and Roll event, set to take place from September 5 to September 7, 2025. The decision, made during the council meeting on July 8, 2025, aims to facilitate a smooth experience for participants and attendees of the annual festival.

Councilor Price and Councilor Holland led the motion, which received unanimous support from the council. The closures will affect several downtown streets, including West Main Street, Market Street, and Austin Street, allowing teams to cook and showcase their vehicles without the worry of traffic interference.

The closures will begin on Friday, September 5, at 6 AM and will extend through Sunday, September 7, at noon. Specific times for closures include a partial closure of Main Street on Friday at 2 PM to ensure better access for downtown businesses during lunch hours. Organizers have committed to informing affected businesses and providing cleanup services to maintain the area post-event.
