Albany hosts National Night Out and community day expo for seniors

Albany City Council is gearing up for two exciting community events aimed at fostering local engagement and support. The first event, National Night Out, is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, from 5 to 8 PM. Residents are encouraged to check the city’s website, albanyca.gov/nationalnightout, to ensure their block is included in this neighborhood celebration. City staff, police department representatives, and council members will visit participating blocks, providing a unique opportunity for residents to connect with local officials and each other.

Following closely, a Community Day Expo will take place on August 7 from 12 to 3 PM at the senior center. This event will cater to older adults and the broader community, featuring a variety of local resources, free lunch, and giveaways. It promises to be a valuable occasion for residents to learn about available services and enjoy a meal together.

Additionally, the city has unveiled new street banners that showcase artistic designs representing Albany. City staff member Bridal Brown led the initiative, enhancing the visual appeal of the streets and fostering community pride.
