City Council proclaims July as Parks Make Life Better Month in Morgan Park

The Baldwin Park Recreation Commission convened on July 8, 2025, to discuss upcoming community activities as part of the "Parks Make Life Better" celebration for the month of July. The meeting featured program coordinator Jimmy Wong, who presented a detailed calendar of events aimed at enhancing community engagement and recreation.

Wong highlighted the successful launch of the celebration with events such as "Paletas in the Park," where approximately 200 popsicles were distributed alongside raffle prizes. He noted the participation of local day camps, which added to the event's vibrancy. The commission was informed that the next major event, "Summer Splash," is scheduled for July 9 at Morgan Park, featuring free snow cones, water slides, and a water balloon toss for children aged 3 to 14.

The meeting also covered various upcoming activities, including a "Dive-In Movie" night on July 14, where families can enjoy a film while swimming, and "Campfire Stories" on July 12. Wong encouraged community members to participate in these events, emphasizing their role in fostering a sense of community and providing enjoyable experiences for families.

Additionally, the commission announced a proclamation presentation by the city council on July 10, recognizing the "Parks Make Life Better" initiative. This event will include a department photo and is set to take place just before a concert at Morgan Park.

The meeting concluded with Wong inviting questions from the commissioners, who expressed enthusiasm for the planned activities. The commission aims to continue promoting community involvement through these recreational events throughout July.
