Ash County officials address cat euthanization and promote responsible pet ownership

In a recent Ashe County Commission meeting, officials addressed several community concerns, including a tragic incident involving animal control and a heartfelt gesture of support for flood-affected areas in Texas.

The decision to euthanize was made to protect other healthy animals in the shelter. The chairman emphasized that the staff acted with compassion and professionalism under challenging circumstances and reiterated the board's commitment to improving animal shelter conditions in the future. He urged the community to promote responsible pet ownership to prevent similar situations.

Additionally, the commission discussed their ongoing support for the Amoram Health hospice facility in Watauga, which serves Ashe, Watauga, and Avery Counties. The board is in the fourth year of a $250,000 commitment to help construct this essential facility, which will provide much-needed services to local residents.
