Cobb County Commissioners declare July Parks and Recreation Month and honor employees

Cobb County celebrated its dedicated parks and recreation professionals during the Board of Commissioners meeting on July 8, 2025, proclaiming July as Parks and Recreation Month. Commissioner Gambril led the recognition, emphasizing the vital role these employees play in enhancing community life through safe spaces and engaging programs.

In a heartfelt address, Gambril reflected on the joy and experiences parks provide to residents, stating, "Parks is the most fun. You guys give experiences to people every day that they might not ever experience." The proclamation highlighted the contributions of over 160,000 park and recreation professionals nationwide, marking the 40th anniversary of Parks and Recreation Month with the theme "Build Together, Play Together."

The meeting also recognized individual staff members who contribute to the success of Cobb's parks, including natural resource managers, recreation program managers, and maintenance staff. Gambril expressed pride in the team, stating, "These are the ones that should be celebrated, not just in July, but every month."
