Commissioners prepare for grand opening of new justice building this Thursday

The Kootenai County Board of Commissioners meeting on July 8, 2025, highlighted the imminent grand opening of the new justice building, set for this Thursday from 3 to 6 PM. Jeff Fuller, the director of building and grounds, provided an update, noting that the project is nearing completion with only minor punch list items remaining.

Fuller confirmed that the De Vries Moving Company will begin relocating staff on July 14, with boxes already being distributed to departments. He emphasized that the construction team is wrapping up final details, and the architect's team is on-site capturing photos for their portfolio, showcasing the building's successful design.

Commissioners discussed the frequency of updates moving forward, suggesting that the justice building update could be removed as a regular agenda item, with periodic updates provided as needed. Fuller assured the board that while minor adjustments will continue, the major issues have been resolved.

The meeting concluded with a plan to revisit the status of the building's operations during the first Tuesday in August, ensuring that the transition into the new facility remains smooth and efficient.
