CEO Jeff Rogers announces downtown project completion and job growth for Los Flores

Jeff Rogers, CEO of Mudgal Lighting, expressed enthusiasm about the completion of a major project set to open on July 7. He highlighted that this initiative will not only revitalize the downtown but also add approximately 200 jobs to the area, a move that could greatly benefit the local economy. Rogers emphasized the importance of this project, noting that it comes with substantial financial commitments, including over $1 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) that Musco has waived back to the city to support future developments.

However, concerns were raised regarding the city’s decision to transfer property valued at $180,000 for just $1. Some council members and local business owners voiced apprehension about this arrangement, questioning its fairness and long-term implications for the community. Additionally, parking issues during events were highlighted as a recurring concern among downtown business owners, indicating a need for better solutions to accommodate visitors.

The meeting underscored the city’s commitment to investing in downtown Oskaloosa, with plans for $1.2 million in repairs to the parking lot, which are crucial for supporting the anticipated influx of visitors and new jobs.
