Residents express concerns over traffic and community issues in Renton meeting

One resident, expressing deep anxiety over potential flooding and increased traffic due to new developments, highlighted the dangers posed by a nearby elementary school bus stop. "You have the power given to you by the voters. Please use it wisely," they urged council members, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to address these pressing issues.

Another speaker, Sheena Mustang, called for a meeting with the mayor and police chief regarding a mishandled gun incident at her home over a year ago, underscoring the community's demand for accountability and communication from local leaders.

John Houston, a long-time Renton resident, criticized the city council for their absence at the recent Juneteenth celebration, stating it reflected poorly on the council's commitment to inclusivity. "You showed something to the black community and to every other part of this community that we don't matter," he lamented, urging council members to engage more actively with all community groups.
