A new veterans' memorial is set to transform the landscape in Macon County, as plans were unveiled during the recent Macon County Commissioners Meeting. The proposed design features a striking monument that will honor those who have served in the military, replacing a simple stone with a more prominent structure.

The new layout includes two stones, with the old stone positioned on one side and a new, larger stone measuring 5 feet tall, 3 feet wide, and 8 inches deep on the other. This monument will be placed on a 1-foot high base rock, situated between two flagpoles that stand 12 feet apart. The design aims to create a respectful and visually appealing tribute to veterans, with a layer of pavers planned for the front.

The inscription on the monument will read, "For our natural health veterans, to those who have given much for our freedom, and to those who have given their all." This heartfelt message underscores the community's commitment to honoring the sacrifices made by service members.

The commissioners expressed strong support for the project, highlighting its importance in recognizing the contributions of veterans. As plans move forward, the community can look forward to a meaningful addition that celebrates their heroes.
