Kernersville plans year-long celebrations for America's 250th and town's 155th anniversaries

The Town of Kernersville Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting on July 8, 2025, where plans for the town's 155th anniversary and the United States' 250th anniversary were a focal point. Ernie, the director of Parks and Recreation, and Ashley Sinclair, the program and events manager, presented their ideas for the celebrations.

Ashley outlined three main components for the Kernersville 155th anniversary: celebrating the town's history, honoring town staff, and engaging the community. Plans include historical exhibits and demonstrations at the History Village, a vendor market, food trucks, and various activities such as scavenger hunts. The committee, which includes representatives from multiple town departments and local organizations like the Lions Club and Rotary, is actively seeking community involvement and ideas.

The proposed celebration is set for April 2026, shortly after Kernersville's official birthday on March 31. The event will feature a day-long celebration with concerts and fireworks, alongside historical displays. Ashley also mentioned the intention to incorporate a historical theme into the town's employee appreciation lunch.

In addition to the April event, the town plans to maintain a festive atmosphere throughout the year, encouraging local businesses and organizations to participate in the celebrations. A special logo designed to resemble a stamp will be used to promote various events, linking them to the anniversaries.
