Council approves amendment for 24-hour ice vending machine at SchoolHouse Sloot Store

The Lawton City Council has approved a significant enhancement to community amenities following their July 8, 2025, meeting. The council unanimously agreed to a First Amendment agreement with SchoolHouse Sloot Convenience Store LLC, allowing the installation of a 24-hour ice vending machine at the SchoolHouse Sloot area.

This decision, presented by Mayor Dwayne, aims to provide residents with convenient access to ice, enhancing the services available in the community. The amendment includes the addition of an exhibit B to the existing management agreement for the convenience store's fuel system. Importantly, the city will not incur any long-term responsibilities for the machine; the concessionaire will handle its installation and maintenance. At the end of the lease, the city will have the option to purchase the vending machine or allow the concessionaire to remove it.
