Elgin residents are set to engage in a series of community-focused events this July, starting with a town hall meeting on July 19 from 9 AM to 11 AM at the EISD Administration Building. Mayor Theresa McShan and city officials will discuss key agenda items, including updates on the Emergency Services District 3, the upcoming city budget, and the ongoing search for a new city manager. This meeting aims to foster transparency and encourage public participation in local governance.

In addition to the town hall, the city is excited to announce a workshop on July 24 to gather community input for the "Crosswalk of Unity" project, funded by a grant from General Motors. This initiative aims to enhance safety for pedestrians crossing to the new Veterans Park, with Christina Alvarez, the Main Street Manager, leading the discussion on design options.

Later in the month, Elgin will host the traveling exhibit "Dinosaur George" on July 25 and 26, featuring engaging activities for families and children. Local businesses are expected to participate with themed events to promote community involvement.

Another highlight is the grand opening of a new makerspace at the library on July 31, made possible by a generous grant from the St. David's Foundation. This space will provide residents access to tools like 3D printers and sewing machines, fostering creativity and innovation within the community.
