Crowley Recreation Committee discusses park improvements and youth sports achievements

The City of Crowley held a meeting on July 8, 2025, where several key topics were discussed, including updates on local infrastructure projects and recreational activities.

The meeting began with a discussion on ongoing sewer line work in the historic district along Hutchinson Street. Officials noted that recent rainfall has impacted the sewer system, causing inflow and infiltration issues that complicate maintenance efforts. The city clarified that utility companies are responsible for marking underground lines, not the city itself.

Recreation Director Zach Dujon provided an update on local sports and park improvements. He celebrated the success of the American Legion baseball team, which finished the regular season with a strong record and is currently competing in the state tournament in New Orleans. Dujon also reported progress on improvements at MLK Park, including the installation of new benches and sidewalk repairs, facilitated by community donations.

Additionally, Dujon highlighted upcoming events, including the participation of local all-star teams in various tournaments and ongoing registration for soccer and flag football programs. He acknowledged the efforts of community members, such as Dr. Procter, who are actively fundraising to enhance neighborhood parks.
