City approves OnSolve mass notification contract and software for emergency services

The City of Milwaukee's Finance and Personnel Committee convened virtually on July 9, 2025, to discuss several key contracts impacting various city departments. The meeting highlighted three significant contracts aimed at enhancing city operations and services.

The first contract discussed was with OnSolve Intermediate Holding Company for the public mass notification software known as Code Red. This contract, managed by the Department of Administration's Information Technology Management Division, is set for a term from December 31, 2024, to December 30, 2027, with a total value of $225,000. This system is crucial for providing timely notifications to city employees via their phones, ensuring effective communication during emergencies.

Next, the committee reviewed a contract with GovWorks Incorporated for the Comms Coach software platform, which will assist the Department of Emergency Communications in evaluating service costs handled by the call center. This two-year contract is valued at $100 and is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing technologies used by the department, enhancing operational efficiency.

Lastly, the committee addressed a contract with USSI Holdings for maintenance services related to aerial lift and digger equipment used by the Department of Public Works. An additional $30,000 has been added to the existing contract, bringing the total to $500,000 for a term extending through June 2026. USSI Holdings is noted as the only locally authorized vendor capable of servicing this specialized equipment, allowing DPW staff to concentrate on other essential tasks.
