Boulder City reviews multi-million dollar parks and recreation funding plan through 2027

Boulder City’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has outlined an ambitious plan for community enhancements, with a focus on floodplain access and park renovations, during their recent meeting on July 10, 2025. The board aims to complete several key projects by 2027, including the Boulder Junction Pocket Park and improvements to the Pleasant View Sports Fields, which will enhance transportation and parking options.

The board discussed the ongoing work on the floodplain, emphasizing its importance for community access and environmental management. A significant portion of the budget, approximately $60 million, has been allocated for various projects, excluding recreation centers. This funding is part of the city’s voter-approved Capital Construction and Renovation Strategy (CCRS), which has already begun to flow into essential park renovations, such as the ADA Dock at Boulder Reservoir and signage updates at Belmont Park.

The meeting also highlighted the need for continued planning and design updates across the parks system. The board is currently working on a comprehensive update to the department's 2022 plan, which includes new design standards and universal access initiatives. This proactive approach aims to ensure that Boulder’s parks remain accessible and enjoyable for all residents.
