Emergency management discusses response times and new station planning in Valley View

During the recent Cooke County Special Commissioners Court budget hearing, discussions centered on the pressing need for improved emergency medical services and infrastructure to better serve the community. One significant concern raised was the distance to the nearest Level 1 trauma facility, located in Plano, which can take emergency responders up to an hour and a half to reach under optimal conditions. Discussions included the potential for expanding existing facilities or even establishing new ones in growing areas like Valley View, where population increases are anticipated. The idea of utilizing modular units for ambulances was also proposed, allowing for flexibility in response to changing community needs without the immediate requirement for permanent structures.

Additionally, the meeting touched on the condition of current stations, with some needing upgrades to accommodate additional emergency units. Station 2 was identified as a potential site for a small remodel to house two units, which could alleviate some pressure on the existing services.
