Cobb County Commissioners open bids for animal services facility and park signage

In the bustling atmosphere of Cobb County's government building, the Board of Commissioners convened on July 10, 2025, for a significant bid opening session. Deputy Director of Procurement Services, Stephanie Bryce, welcomed attendees and outlined the day's agenda, which included the opening of four key solicitations. However, before diving into the bids, she announced two important postponements: the RFP for construction manager services related to the 911 canopy and stair replacement, as well as the annual contract for asphalt procurement, both rescheduled for August 14.

The first solicitation opened was for program management services for a new animal services facility. Three vendors submitted proposals: Comprehensive Program Services Inc., Higdon and Herring, and Turner and Townsend Inc. This RFP, which evaluates multiple qualitative factors alongside cost, set the stage for a competitive selection process.

Next, the board reviewed bids for entry signage replacement at various parks. Signal Signs of Georgia Inc. led with a bid of $176,578, followed closely by Southern Sign Systems Inc. at $153,812.50, and United Signs LLC at $160,000. Each bid included the necessary bond, ensuring compliance with county requirements.

The third solicitation focused on securing a peer support clinician for the Department of Public Safety. Four responses were received, including Frontline Mobile Health PLLC and Torn Counseling and Recovery Center LLC, highlighting the county's commitment to enhancing public safety services through qualified professionals.

Finally, the board opened bids for an annual contract for ballistic body armor for the Cobb County Police Department. GT Distributors and Smyrna Police Distributors were the two vendors recognized, each presenting competitive pricing for this essential public safety equipment.

As the meeting concluded, Bryce reminded attendees of the next scheduled bid opening on July 24, 2025, and encouraged interested parties to explore additional bidding opportunities on the county's procurement website. This session not only showcased the county's ongoing projects but also underscored the importance of transparency and community engagement in local government operations.
