DuPage County Council approves contracts for water tank and drainage improvements

The DuPage County Board convened on July 8, 2025, to discuss various public works and facilities management contracts, as well as transportation improvements. The meeting was led by Vice Chair Childress, who guided the board through a series of agenda items.

The first significant item was the approval of a contract with Dynamic Industrial Services for the rehabilitation of a 250,000-gallon elevated water storage tank. The contract, which spans from July 8, 2025, to November 30, 2026, is valued at $390,600 and was approved following a roll call vote.

Next, the board approved a contract with Mid America Water for a waterless hydrant, set for a period from June 26, 2025, to June 25, 2026, with a total amount not to exceed $62,500. This contract includes the first of three renewal options.

The board also moved forward with a contract to Reverse Electric Supply Company for Rockwell Automation hardware and software support, covering public works and stormwater management from May 29, 2025, to May 28, 2028, for a total of $72,090. This item also passed with a roll call vote.

Further discussions included a contract with Airway System for semi-annual cleaning of kitchen ducts and hoods at various facilities, with a total contract amount not to exceed $37,525 per month for a two-year period. Additionally, a contract with Fox Valley Fire and Safety Company for maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems was approved, with a total not to exceed $117,250.

The board also addressed an amendment to a purchase order for sanitary grease trap services, increasing the contract amount by $15,000, bringing the total to $102,750. Another resolution was passed for semi-annual kitchen duct cleaning services, with a total contract amount of $20,840.

In the technology sector, a contract was approved for the management of the county GPS core site, totaling $39,500, which was deemed unsuitable for competitive bids.

Transportation improvements were also a focus, with the board approving a resolution for drainage improvements to Army Trail Road, with an estimated county cost of $435,376.10. Additionally, an amendment to an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Darien was approved to replace a retaining wall and fencing, increasing funding by $264,500.

The meeting concluded with all agenda items being addressed, reflecting the board's commitment to maintaining and improving county infrastructure and services.
