County Commissioners approve new member and funding for clerk's office staffing

The Val Verde County Commissioners Court held a regular meeting on July 11, 2025, where several key topics were discussed, including committee appointments, funding for the county clerk's office, and community events.

In community engagement, Commissioner Vasquez announced an upcoming Mother's Day Women's Empowerment Event scheduled for May 9 at the Antonio Tony Paz County Annex Building. The event, organized by state representative Eddie Morales, aims to foster community spirit and will feature refreshments for attendees.

Additionally, County Judge discussed ongoing conversations regarding the Second International Bridge with representatives from Acuña, Mexico. The discussions included the potential expansion of the bridge to accommodate increased traffic flow, suggesting a three-lane expansion to facilitate smoother transit.

The meeting concluded with a reminder of the upcoming election on November 18, where two items will be presented to the public for a vote. The court emphasized that while the election results would be binding for the county, they would not be binding for the city.
