Board recognizes gymnastics team and community partner Glenn Bullock for leadership and accomplishments

The CUSD 200 Board of Education meeting held on July 9, 2025, highlighted significant achievements within the district and recognized key community partnerships. The meeting began with a procedural adjustment, where the budget discussion was prioritized before addressing a transfer to capital projects, allowing for better context for board members and the community.

One of the main highlights was the recognition of the gymnastics team, celebrated for their outstanding accomplishments. Dr. Shure introduced the team and their coaches, Joe and Greg, emphasizing the life lessons imparted through their coaching. A notable story shared was that of Jack Onstead, who, despite initial doubts about his abilities, became a senior gymnast of the year and a state champion in multiple events. This recognition underscored the coaches' impact not only on athletic performance but also on personal development.

Additionally, the board acknowledged Glenn Bullock, president and CEO of Antunas, a company known for its contributions to the food preparation industry and community engagement through apprenticeship programs. Students from the district have benefited from internships at Antunas, gaining valuable experience in various business disciplines. Jenna Marichan, a current intern, spoke about her positive experiences and the comprehensive training provided by the company, which aims to dispel negative perceptions of manufacturing environments.

The meeting concluded with a certificate presentation to Bullock, reinforcing the importance of community partnerships in enhancing educational experiences for students. The board expressed gratitude for the collaboration and encouraged further community involvement to ensure all students can benefit from similar opportunities.
